Crazy or just in Love?

Thank you for taking interest and supporting the thats what friends are fore project! I am pleased to announce the first Artist podcast will be Saturday May 23 2009, this will also include a personal Introduction to the artist, bio, and short interview. I want to share a little more with you of how this date and concept has come about, something some may know, and some may not.

EVERYTHING happens for a reason, whether we choose to accept that or not is our own decision. In my situation I accepted, and this is how it all began….

Why this day? Well as silly as it may sound to some it’s the day “techno changed my life” hehe

Exactly two years ago on this date I was brought to my first Electronic Music Party by one of the few friends I connected with during my time at The Fashion Institute in NYC. He said you will probably hate the music, but the people it brings together are amazing. I was ready for change during this time, especially with graduation just a week away….and a whole summer ahead of me.

So off I went on that Wednesday night, to Bar 13 where the makeup party was taking place (the previous one was the first shut down by the nypd, & also should have been my first) …not really sure what to expect anxious, excited, and a bit nervous. I have to say the timing was pretty good artist playing that night included Pan-Pot, Exercise One, & of course Memek. I stepped foot for the first time in a Minimoo/ Bar 13 and what went through me when I heard the music, saw the people, and felt the vibe…was well unexplainable. Strange to say, but I never looked back on a lot of things from that day on…and for the better believe me.

It just takes that one moment, that “being in the right place at the right time” kind of attitude to find something you’ve not really been searching for, but waiting for.

After about six months of running around Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island City; in clubs, roof tops, warehouses, lofts, beaches, you get the idea…I realized a lot in the course of that time, and one of the most important for me was that it wasn’t really about partying (not saying I don’t LOVE to party) but it was something a lot more. It was the whole package the natural vibe, the people it came with, how the music just changed my world in one split second… it was an understanding, it was respect, it was passion, it was LOVE….

So off after doing very little research and without knowing what I was going to do exactly I decided where I should go next, (naturally) hehe….A city I had never been to, barely heard about, didn’t know the language, had one friend in which I met just weeks before departure (couldn’t have asked for a better friend =) What I did know was that my friends and my intuition were telling I would be just fine so my destination?

Berlin had to be Berlin.

What a journey the past two years have been, the amazing friends I have made, the MANY obstacles I have faced, self surprising moments, adventures, once in a lifetime experiences, motivations, opportunities, epiphanies, synchronicities, connections, objections, understandings, curiosity, dedication, appreciation, Pure BLISS.

So why was this project created? As I had posted last week when the idea came to mind.

This project was created solely for my music enthused mind, & for my friends in electronic music that continue to inspire me every day. To give exposure to those that haven't received any, and for those that already have, but continue to evoke our minds day in and day out....

And for those chasing after something they love, never give up “give time to the time” a good friend once said to me when those obstacles get in the way…its up to you to make things happen for yourself, no one else can do that for you.

As I appreciate all genres of electronic music my focus in this blog with be on House, Tech-House, Deep House, Techno, Minimal, Dub-Tech,…
